Christine and Fernando da Mota have a combined 38 years experience in the wine business. They are thrilled to be living on the Outer Banks and starting this new venture together.
Fernando, who grew up in Lisbon Portugal, worked in the wine and liquor business in Washington DC for 25 years as Manager, Wine Buyer and Wine Consultant. He enjoys getting to know his customers on a personal level and learning their likes and dislikes in wine. He has brought in many wines from around the world and a large selection of California wines. If he doesn't have what you want in stock he will do his best to get it for you in a timely manner. His first love is soccer, however, which he played professionally in the 1970's, so don't be surprised if there is a game on when you visit the store!
His wife, Christine, grew up in Rockville, Maryland and started vacationing on the Outer Banks in the 1960's ! She moved to France when she was 20 years old. There she learned about grape growing and wine making and has a certificate from the French Department of Agricuture. She also studied wine marketing while in Beaune in Burgundy, France, and part owns a tiny plot of Ladoix in Cote de Beaune which she farmed and vinified herself in 1997. Christine has also worked for wine distributors, one of them while living in the Algarve in Portugal with Fernando, retailers, and most notably was the sales and marketing coordinator for Robert Kacher Selections, a French wine importer, for 4 years.
Together they form a strong team and look forward to getting to know the locals and tourists that regularly frequent the Outer Banks.
